This is the site of one of the ‘board schools’ created by the Leeds School Board, when Heaton sat as a member in 1870-3.  Heaton laid the foundation stone of the school in July 1873 (Journal, iv. p. 148).  The school’s log-books, from 1872 to 1932, are in the West Yorkshire Archive Service, Leeds.
